Our Rheumatology Practice’s Patient Center
Patients can be self-referred according to their insurance or referred by their primary care physician or by other specialties. To make an appointment, please call the office at (703) 492-6660 or use the patient’s portal. By registering with the patient portal, you can request a medication refill and lab or imaging report or request a new appointment. We recommend that you call your insurance at least 24 hours before the day of your visit to make sure there have been no changes in your coverage. It is also recommended to find out if our office is considered “in network” or “out of network” by your insurance. “Out of network” may imply that your insurance does not cover your office visit in nonurgent cases and that you are financially responsible for the out-of-network expenses.
In the event that you need to change or cancel your upcoming appointment, please provide 48 hours notice; this will allow us to accommodate other patients who need to be evaluated in the clinic. Cancellations without at least 24 hours' notice will incur a $50 cancellation fee.
At your first visit, we will provide you with a welcome package. You can download this package from website before your first visit; completing this form prior to your visit should save you time and allows us to enter information into your electronic chart.
To download the statement, please go to “patient center” and click on “forms” and select the form that you need to complete. Please inform our staff if there is any change in your insurance. The Greater Washington Arthritis, Rheumatology and Osteoporosis Center accepts cash and personal checks as well as the following credit cards:
Visa
MasterCard
American Express
Discover
If we are a participating provider with your insurance company, we will bill them. However, payment is the patient's responsibility and our billing company could assist you in handling claims. For billing inquiries, please contact our billing company at (877) 386-3291.
We recommend completing the “New Patient Form” and other relevant Questionnaires Forms for your visit. The initial visit form provides us with valuable information, which is very important for an accurate assessment and diagnosis. Your referral physician provides us the reason for consultation, however, we still need a detailed history of your disease and previous treatments, which will prevent unnecessary laboratory tests or imaging studies. When you present to the office, please bring your most up-to-date medication list, pertinent labs, and imaging studies such as CT, MRI, and X-ray reports. It will be very helpful if you can bring an actual image in any format to be reviewed.
The questionnaires will help us to assess your treatment progress and adjust the medication doses or switch to an alternative medication if it is necessary.
Your initial visit or consultation time with the doctor may vary from 45 to 60 minutes based on the complexity of the case, and follow-up visits may range between 15 to 25 minutes.
You may request a medication refill by calling the office or online via patient’s portal. By registering with patient portal, you can request a medication refill and lab or imaging report or request a new appointment.
Please allow us 48-72 hours to fulfill your request. Please note that most medications cannot be renewed if we have not seen you in more than 3 months. Most of the medications that we prescribe are required close mentoring of internal organ systems such as liver, kidney, or bone marrow by ordering blood work because these carry a significant risk of side effects if left unmonitored, and some medications require annual eye exams.
Please contact us about 2 weeks before you run out of the medication so there are no interruptions to your regimen.
